Cricket Rules of Play

Each number wedge segment to be used is called an inning. The object of Cricket is to close all of the game's innings before an opponent does. To close an inning, or number, three of the particular number must be scored. This can be done with one dart in the triple, three singles, or a double and a single of the number. Merely closing, however, does not win the game if the opponent is ahead on points. The point deficit, if there is any, must be made up by scoring in live (not-yet-closed) innings. Important: Points are not necessary to win; the object is to close the numbers before your opponent does. The player, who closes first, even if he has zero points, is the winner as long as his opponent also has zero points. Should the opponent have points, the closed out player must score an equal amount or more points than his opponent before the opponent can close out his numbers. Games cannot end in a tie. If the players' scores are equal, the first player to close out all of his numbers wins.

Example: To close a number, three hits must be scored in that particular number. If one player closes a number before the other player does, every subsequent dart in that number counts for points until the opponent can close the number (e.g. the first player throws his three darts at 20 but only scores two singles with the third dart landing on a non-scoring number. The number is not closed. The second player throws his darts; all three hit the 20 wedge, a triple and two singles. Thus, the second player has closed 20 and has also scored 40 points for the two extra 20's from his total of five hits for his turn. This player will continue to receive 20 points for every 20 he subsequently throws until his opponent throws the single 20 he needs to close the 20 segment. If a player were to hit two singles followed by a triple of that number in their turn that player would close that number and score points on the additional "markings" from his or her throws. An example of this would be a player who hits two single 20’s with their first two darts and then hits a triple 20 on his or her third dart they would have closed the 20’s and scored 40 points for that turn since they earned the three need "markings" as well as having earned additional two markings needed to score. To win a game of Cricket you must close all the numbers by getting a score of three hits in each number, including the bull's-eye. Plus, you cannot be behind in points.

501 Rules of Play

  • A leg of 501 will be played using the fly in double out format of play.

  • All players start with 501 points and attempt to reach zero. If a player scores more than the total required to reach zero, the player "busts" and the score returns to the score that was existing at the start of the turn.

  • When a player reaches zero by hitting the appropriate double to equal the amount needed to be at a zero score the leg is over.

  • All general rules of play will apply.

 General League Rules

  • A warm up session for each player will constitute six darts maximum before the start of each game if needed.

  • In each 501 or Cricket match individual players will throw for cork,(In teams either team member may throw for cork) the team/individual closest to the cork starts the game. In the event the first thrower is to hit a red cork he is to pull it to provide equal opportunity for the second thrower to take a red bull. Re-throws shall be called if the scorer cannot decide which dart is closest to the cork.

  • A thrown dart is a dart that reaches any part of the wall from the base of the wall up to and including the backboard and dartboard or likewise hits any darts stuck in the board will count as thrown darts.  Any dart that lands on the floor and fails to reach the wall is not considered thrown and may be re-thrown.

  • In order to score, the point of the dart must be touching the bristle portion of the board. Darts, which stick in the board backwards, do not count. A dart must stay in the board until the turn is over and is removed by the shooter. A player may not hold the dart to keep it from falling out of the board.

  • Darts must be pulled after each shooter’s 3 darts are thrown. However, darts must not be pulled prior to the decision of the scoring of said darts. If the score of the dart should be in doubt then both players shall view dart to determine dart score.

  • Any changes made to correct mistakes in scoring or calling must be made before the next turn of the player or team against who the mistake was made, whether in their favor or against.

  • If a player throws out of turn in team play, his score is voided, and his turn is skipped and the correct order is resumed on the next turn.

 General League Rules Continued

  • A single's and team's match will consist of a single leg of cricket and a single leg of 501.

  • If a player misses a regularly scheduled night of play all their single's matches for that night will be forfeited. Team matches can be made up the following scheduled dart league night. If a team is unable to make their match up on the following scheduled dart league night the team missing the regular scheduled night will forfeit the match to the team that was present on the regularly scheduled match time. In the event that a makeup can’t be made up due to the team who was present on the first regularly scheduled night being absent then the make up match would be moved to the next week of scheduled dart play. If after a third attempt a rematch isn’t possible then the team present that night will receive the win since they were available to play two out of the three times match play was attempted. If on the third attempt to make up a match neither team is present then the team that was present the night of the regularly scheduled match would receive the win. No make up matches will be played after the conclusion of the last league night.

  • Teams will consist of two players. These two player teams will be decided through a blind draw. Teams will consist of one player from the A division and one player from the B division.

  • Good sportsmanship should be the prevailing factor during all league competition.  If a player or players acts in a manor that is unsportsmanlike in nature before, during, or after a match said player will be first verbally warned of their comments or actions. In the event there is another unsportsmanlike action that player will be asked to discontinue playing in dart league and will not be refunded their league dues. Poor sportsmanship takes the fun out of the game for all involved.
